Product Description

Molecular formula: AL₂(SO₄)₃ ·xH₂O.

Molecular weight: 342.15 (AL₂(SO₄)₃)

Appearance: Liquid is colorless and transparent.

Properties: The specific gravity is 1.69. It tends to absorb moisture and cake when stored in the air for a long time. The dehydration temperature is 86.5°C. It is soluble in water, acids, and alkalis, but insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is acidic and has a sour and astringent taste. It begins to decompose when heated to 530°C and the decomposition is completed at 860°C. The final decomposition product is r·AL₂O₃.

Application Fields

This product is mainly used for drinking water treatment, the manufacture of high-grade paper, the post - treatment of titanium dioxide, and as a catalyst carrier. It can also be used as a foam fire extinguisher, a flame retardant for thermal insulation materials, an additive for refractory materials, and a raw material for artificial gemstones, etc.
